Al Terry asked:

The Philadelphia Phillies are a Major League Baseball team located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They have various nicknames, the common ones include: “The Phils”, “The Phightin’ Phils” or just, “The Phightin’s”. Since the divisional rearrangement of 1969, the Phillies have played for the Eastern Division of the National League. A Good Baseball Coach

A good baseball coach needs to train the players with the required skills and strategies of the game of baseball. Any good coach will try his best to help his team win.

A good coach will discourage the consumption of tobacco, drugs and alcohol. Apart from the fact that the use is illegal in sports, there are also health related issues. The above addictions cause the health to deteriorate largely. It breaks down your energy. It creates havoc in your body.

A good coach needs to motivate his players to perform to the hilt.

He must teach them tricks and give them small tips on the game like

When the ball comes at a great speed, the batter must not flex his muscles and tightly hold the bat to hit. This will hinder the effect of the bat once more. Instead, he needs to hold the bat lightly and hit quick.

Another tip is that a batter must always try to gauge the strategy of the pitcher to the extent possible. Once the batter is sure about the moves the pitcher can make, he will be able to tackle it better.

There are various ticks and secrets in the game of baseball. A good coach will know them and will train his team accordingly.

A good coach must encourage his team members to use the force of adrenalin in their body. He must be competent enough to excite his players to put in their best performance and win. Adrenalin can make you stronger and more focused. It can make you win a losing game. So a good coach needs to teach his players to utilize the rush of adrenalin in the body in an effective way to win.

Tips for Buying Sports Tickets

November 25th, 2009

Al Terry asked:

Tips For Buying Sports Tickets

Purchasing sports tickets can either be a very easy situation or become an unbarring ordeal. Much depends on how well the team is playing, the match up for the game and what part of the season it is. Of course getting tickets for a bad match up when your team is well below five hundred at the end of the season is a lot easier then getting tickets to the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees in game seven fighting it out for the division title and a spot in the World Series. Such great and classic match ups as the example above are what makes sports so entertaining and for fans the supply and demand factors of tickets become a major factor.

No matter what your favorite team or favorite sport to watch there is always a way to get a good seat to a game. The best way to locate sports tickets is always to buy them direct when they go on sale from the stadium or arena. In order to procure tickets for the date and match up you want you must look early at the schedules and call the day tickets go on sale. The advantage of this method is that you will be able to get great location of choice and all at face value. The major problem with this is that most great foreseen games will sell out fast and you may be purchasing the sports tickets months in advance of the actual game day.

If you did not even think about buying tickets for say a baseball game at the beginning of the season, but now the season has progressed and your team is doing surprisingly well and you want to see what has turned into a great unexpected match up you still have options. The best way to secure some last minute sports tickets is the use of a ticket broker. Ticket brokers on average cost about thirty percent more then original face value, however, you get to have a better choice of seating without the pressures. For games which are high in demand and for premium seating the costs can become quite astonishing and if money is no worry then you may get great seats to any event anytime you wish.

Other Ways To Obtain Sports Tickets

Most people money is a major factor in purchasing tickets. Most true sports fans really prefer face value tickets and paying three hundred dollars for a ticket to a football game seems utterly ridiculous. The great thing about sports is that the fan base is huge. In today’s world of easy communications sports fans can reach out to each other from the corners of the world. Through Internet forums and groups it is easy to locate one which is related to a specific sport and team. Use a simple search and then post to the group the sports tickets you are in need of. Simply leave your email and soon you will be receiving information. The best part of using related online forums and groups is that fans often just want to unload extra tickets to get the money back and are happy to let them go at face value making a fellow sports fan happy.

There are always the more risky ways to purchase your tickets for any sport. These ways are more risky because they involve actually going to the event with no sure way to get in. Using scalpers has always been a last ditch effort. This should always be avoided as the chances of being taken advantage of are high. Odds are you will pay a lot of money for a ticket which still does not get you in. You are much better off paying the extra money over face value to a ticket broker.

Going to the “will call” booth is a great option which may have some canceled sports tickets last minute and get you a premium seat at face value. Many times patrons will show up and pick up their tickets from will call and have extras as friends and family canceled last minute. Many fans have been known to have the sports tickets just given to them, as these were bonuses from a job which they never paid for anyway. If all this fails you may have to go “grass roots” and make a small card board sign with big lettering saying something witty such as “Will Cry For Any Extra Tickets.” Many times just a little attention can score a great seat to a hot spots event no matter how impossible attending may seem.

The Broadway Rush

November 24th, 2009
broadway tickets
natisha asked:

A lot of people can’t just breeze in and breeze out of Broadway at a whim. Much as they would like to. Buying Broadway show tickets is not exactly a cheap affair. But at $100, a good show is worth the rush, many would say. Most people hunt around for cheap, discounted Broadway show tickets and much is being said about rush tickets.

Rush tickets are simply last minute tickets that are given out at the box office at a much cheaper price. People claim that they have got these tickets to watch their favorite show. The story unfolds something like this.

Someone decides to watch a really great show at the last minute. Calls and gets the information that rush tickets will be available at the last minute. Reaches the scene on time and walks away triumphant waving two rush Broadway show tickets.

Appealing as these stories might seem; it is a good idea to get a little realistic. Let us face it; the fraction of people who get lucky enough to get cheap Broadway show tickets is small. Most places have rules for rush tickets. Some give them out only to students with IDs. Many also go by a lottery system which involves the game of wishing and waiting. If you ask me, it pretty much takes out the rush from the whole experience.

A few other Standing Room Only (SRO) tickets are also available at the last moment but there is no way to predict that these will be available. As a rule SRO tickets are given out only when a show sells out. And these are very few and one per person.

The Internet also seems to be filled with tips on getting discount Broadway show tickets. There seems to be no harm in trying. But at best all you can do is run around a couple of times. It is a good past time for those who don’t visit the Broadway often. But of you are a regular you know that the most reliable way to get Broadway show tickets is through a good online source that offers realistic discounts from time to time. Sign up with a good website that offers information and discounts through mails and newsletters.

Though Broadway show tickets are expensive their value is more in the experience. Imagine taking kids to a musical show or to Cinderella coming to life in a way that doesn’t involve sitting on a couch with a bag of potato chips. Or spending an evening with your spouse, listening to the symphony orchestra. It is money well spent. Something that one can’t do every other weekend but a few times a year.

This season there is a lot in store on Broadway. Apart from great theater performances like “ An Evening In The Park With George”, “Hairspray”, “ Gypsy”, “ Passing Strange”, etc. there are other shows like the “ The Blue Man Group”, “ Chicago- the Musical”, “ Swan Lake” and more. And some performances are great enough to drown the coolant you pay with their rush.

Sourcing your Sports Event Tickets

November 24th, 2009
event tickets
Al Terry asked:

Ours is a nation of sports. With so many sporting teams, and not only of the four major sports – Baseball, Basketball, Football, and Ice Hockey, there are bound to be sporting events all year round. We have the pre-season games, the games during the sporting season, and the post-season games. We have those major championship games, various college sports, and even sporting events that are shown live on TV. Despite so many sporting events that are held day in and day out, in a multitude of sporting arenas all over the United States, sports event tickets are always in great demand, and very difficult to procure.

The best and the most simple way to lay your hands on sports event tickets is by visiting the venues of the events, but is it practical? Sporting events are held in so many venues in so many different cities. Even if you wish to enjoy sporting events in one city, say New York City, there is a diversity of sports being held in a variety of stadiums all over the city. Visiting each and every venue of the games you wish to see will be improbable, if not impossible.

If you wish to watch a particular sporting event in New York, and you happen to be a resident, or on a short visit to the city, buying your ticket directly from the venue makes sense. It will be cheaper, provided the tickets are readily available. This is quite iffy as most tickets are sold out as soon as the sporting schedules are announced! Even if you chance it out and are able to reach the ticket window after waiting in long lines for hours on end, what are the chances that you will land tickets of premium seats of your choice?

Buying Sports Event Tickets – The Risky Way

You may be ill advised to approach those many online re-sale forums for your sports event tickets. Many do and some are able to get their hands on good tickets. However, buying your sports event tickets from such sources is very risky, for the simple reason that you are buying from anonymous sources, and the tickets may very well be fake!

The same risk is offered when you approach those auction sites, such as eBay, where the seller across the ether is a non-entity. You only come to know that you have been palmed off with sports event tickets that are not genuine, after you have become lighter in the pocket, by quite a handsome amount!

Similarly, you are well advised to avoid those scalpers you find teeming around the sporting venues.

Buying Sports Event Tickets – The Simpler Way

If buying sport event tickets from the venues is not your cup of tea, try something simpler . . . and you do not have to leave the comforts of your home!

Pick up your phone and call any of the legitimate sports even ticket brokers of New York. Brokers will ensure you premium seats and have your sports event tickets delivered to your door!

The Best Ways to Purchase Nfl Tickets

October 21st, 2009
playoff tickets
Al Terry asked:

The largest American football league – the National Football League (NFL) – consists of 32 teams from all over the United States. It is one of the four major professional sports leagues in North America – the others being the Major League Baseball (MLB), National Basketball Association (NBA), and the National Hockey League (NHL).

The NFL is divided into two conferences – the National Football Conference (NFC) and the American Football Conference (AFC), which are further divided into four divisions each, each division consisting of four teams. Each of these divisions is designated as East West, North, and South.

American football, played under NFL, descended from Rugby football played in England, and reached the United States via Canada in 1874. Professional football dates back to 1892 when William ‘Pudge’ Heffelfinger was paid $500 by the Allegheny Athletic Association to take part in a game, on November 12, against Pittsburgh Athletic Club. This makes him the first professional player on record. Professional football spread over the next few decades.

The American Professional Football Association, the predecessor of the NFL, was founded in 1920, and changed to its current name in 1922.

The NFL Season

Prior to the regular season, which is generally from September to December, or early January, the NFL season features a four game preseason, or exhibition season, running from early August to early September. This is followed by a 16 game 17-week regular season. Following the regular season, starting in January, six teams each from the AFL and the NFL play a single elimination tournament – the NFL playoffs.

The playoffs end with the Super Bowl – the NFL Championship. The top team from each of the two leagues – the AFL and the NFL – plays in the Super Bowl. The day incidentally is considered an unofficial American national holiday! The Super Bowl was usually played the Sunday following the playoffs, but of late, it has been held on the first Sunday of February, every year.

The Super Bowl is the most watched sport on American television, with companies spending millions on commercials. The game is held for the Sunday night prime time audience on the East Coast. The winner of the Super Bowl in February is crowned the champion of the previous year. The Indianapolis Colts - who won the Super Bowl XLI in February 2007, are the champions of the 2006 season.

Football Tickets

The games of the NFL being so popular with a large fan following, the NFL tickets are hot property. Whether you are looking to purchase the NFL tickets for the pre-season, regular season, or for the playoffs, they are not easy to lay your hands on.

NFL tickets for the Super Bowl would be a near impossibility – so much is the interest it generates. NFL tickets for most of the games are sold out the moment they come on sale.

Legitimate ticket brokers have the wherewithal to arrange your NFL tickets for you. As a word of caution: you should buy your NFL tickets from legitimate ticket brokers that are members of the National Association of Ticket Brokers (NATB) who ensure you tickets of your choice.

The History of Tampa Bay Devil Rays Tickets

The Tampa Bay Devil Rays are a Major League Baseball team located in St. Petersburg, Florida. The team plays for the East Division of the American League. Tampa Bay Devil Rays was added to the League in 1998 as an expansion strategy for the team. At present, the team plays its home games in Tropicana Field.

About Baseball

Baseball is a sport that has the capacity to create immense nostalgia among the Americans. Each American literally grows up on a healthy dose of baseball. It is considered to be a national pastime. Unlike other ballgames, baseball can be easily played by people having an average height and weight. The game of baseball originated even before the American Civil War (1861-1865). Initially it was known as Rounders – a game played on the sand lot. Gradually it was fine tuned and modified to a game that could take on a national stature.

Professional Baseball League was introduced in 1871. At the start of the 20th century, almost all the large cities in States had a baseball team. The teams belonged to either of the two Leagues – American or National. During the season, one team played against the other within the League. The winner was given something called a pennant. At the close of the standard season, both the pennant owners were pitted against each other. Roughly around seven games were played. The team that won at least four was declared the champion. The same rule applies even today. In the 1920s, Babe Ruth won various World Series titles for the Yankees.

In the middle of 1950, the game spread in fame and glory, crossing over geographical boundaries. Until 1970, there were strict binding contracts in baseball teams. Thus the players of the baseball teams were almost owned by the owners. But as time has progressed, the rules have become relaxed and the players can now play for any teams they desire to join.

It is believed that an American professor introduced baseball in Japan around 1870. The Japan Professional Baseball League was formed in 1930 and that when professional Japanese baseball began. Hideo Nomo was a very popular pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers. The game of baseball is pretty popular in places like Cuba and other Caribbean nations also.

Great Tips for Procuring your New York Jets Tickets

September 17th, 2009

Al Terry asked:

New York Jets Tickets

The New York Jets play in the Eastern Division of the American Football Conference in the National Football League (NFL), and play their home games at the Giants Stadium, which is also home to the other professional football team of New York – the New York Giants. The Jets, however, prefer calling their base The Meadowlands, as the stadium bears the name of their rival NFL team. The Giants Stadium is located in the Meadowlands Sports Complex, a massive complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

At present, the New York Jets train on Long Island, at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York. Their new training facility as well as their corporate headquarters is coming up at Florham Park, New Jersey.

The Team History

The Jets were originally named the New York Titans, and started as charter member of the American Football League (AFL), in 1960. Sony Werblin, head of Music Corporation of America (MCA), who along with Leon Hess was part of a group that bought the team in 1963, renamed it the New York Jets. After the AFL-NFL merger, the Jets joined the NFL.

The New York Jets caused one of the biggest upsets in American sports history on January 12, 1969. Playing as underdogs in the third AFL-NFL World Championship Game - but the first to officially bear the name Super Bowl – they defeated the NFL champions, the Baltimore Colts, 16-7, at the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida.

As Titans, the Jets played their home games at New York’s Polo Grounds up to 1963. Werblin and Hess decided to relocate to the Shea Stadium, and the New York Jets made their home there for 20 seasons, from 1964 to 1983. During this time, the Stadium hosted three playoff games involving the Jets: the 1968 AFL Championship – beating the Oakland Raiders, 27-23; a 1969 AFL Divisional playoff – losing 13-6 to the Kansas City Chiefs; and the 1981 AFC Wild Card Playoff – losing 31-27 to the Buffalo Bills.

From 1984 onwards, the New York Jets are based at the Giants Stadium. The Jets will be moving to their new home – the New Meadowlands Stadium, which is expected to come up by 2010.

Today, the New York Jets is owned by Robert Wood Johnson IV, heir of Johnson & Johnson, who bought the team from the estate of Leon Hess, who had earlier bought out his partners.

The Jets have retired three jersey numbers to honor their great players. These are:

#12 - Joe Namath

#13 - Don Maynard

#73 - Joe Kleck

The Jets Tickets

You can arrange to purchase your New York Jets tickets from the many ticket brokers in New York. The licensed ticket brokers are competent and handle all your requests for the New York Jets tickets professionally and courteously.

You let them know your requirements, and leave the rest to them. It does not matter whether you are looking for New York Jets tickets for the away or home games. They will ensure that your New York Jets tickets are delivered to you at the earliest.

Hotel Rooms Scarce as Miami Prepares for Super Bowl Xli

September 5th, 2009
superbowl tickets
Ryan Wiseman asked:

The greatest spectacle in American sports returns to South Florida as Miami makes final preparations to host Super Bowl XLI on February 4, 2007, when the top teams in the National Football Conference (NFC) and American Football Conference (AFC) will battle for the National Football League (NFL) championship. More than 125,000 people are expected to descend upon Miami for Super Bowl XLI and - just as Super Bowl tickets are a rare commodity these days - Miami area hotel rooms have been filling up fast and many top online hotel providers are already running low on inventory.

“HotelsCorp.com still has room availability at some of our Miami partner hotels but as the NFL teams are narrowed down during the playoffs, room availability during Super Bowl week will become more and more scarce,” said Kyle Collins, Director of Interactive Marketing for HotelsCorp.com, a leading online vacation provider. “Therefore, if you haven’t booked your accommodations yet and you plan on heading to Miami for the Super Bowl, you should definitely reserve a hotel room as soon as possible.”

Approximately 90,000 hotel rooms are available throughout South Florida - from Miami to West Palm Beach. However, the NFL has already reserved approximately one out of five hotel rooms in South Florida to accommodate its staff and sponsors, as well as the media, for Super Bowl XLI. In addition, many Miami hotels have imposed a 3- to 4-night minimum stay during Super Bowl XLI week (and at least one luxury hotel in Miami has imposed a seven-night minimum!). Some hotels also have doubled - and in some cases tripled - their normal room rates for guests during Super Bowl XLI week.

Location is definitely a key consideration when you research the appropriate hotel to book during your stay in Miami for Super Bowl XLI. The Super Bowl itself will take place at Dolphin Stadium (the home field of the Miami Dolphins) in Miami Gardens, which lies 16 miles Northwest of downtown Miami. Therefore, Bal Harbour, Coconut Grove, Miami Beach (including bustling South Beach), downtown Miami and other Miami area locales provide easy access to Super Bowl XLI, while offering a myriad of recreational opportunities during your stay.

“Miami Beach has become a very popular vacation destination for the whole family,” said Collins. “Whether you’re interested in sunbathing, sightseeing, golfing, world-class dining, abundant shopping opportunities or nonstop nightlife, there’s something for everyone in Miami Beach.”

Super Bowl XLI will be the ninth Super Bowl hosted in Miami since 1968 and the fourth to be played at the 75,000-seat Dolphin Stadium. Annually the country’s highest-rated TV program, Super Bowl XLI will be televised by CBS. Last year’s telecast was watched by more than 141 million viewers. Pre-game activities begin at Dolphin Stadium at 5:40 PM Eastern Time with Prince set to perform during the Pepsi Super Bowl XLI Halftime Show. The Super Bowl returns to South Florida in 2010.

Nhl Tickets - a Brief History

August 23rd, 2009
sports tickets
Al Terry asked:

The National Hockey League or NHL is a specialized hockey association comprising of ice hockey teams in North America. NHL is a premier certified ice hockey league in the world. The association is divided into two groups of fifteen-team. Every team comprises of three five-team divisions. The NHL was established in 1917 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada with six teams. After many additions, deletions and modifications, the league now comprises of around thirty teams among which twenty-four are based in the United States and six are based in Canada.

Knowing About The National Hockey League

Since the sport got its roots from Canada, a majority of the players are of Canadian origin. In the past few years, the percentage of players belonging to the American and European origin has grown. The reason behind this is the expansion of The National Hockey League into United States. Also after the downfall of communism, the flow of extremely accomplished European players from Eastern Europe has increased. NHL games are immensely popular and thus the high demand of NHL tickets.

Every National Hockey League regulation game of ice hockey is played between two teams. The duration of each game is sixty minutes. A single game comprises of three periods of twenty minutes each. There is a break of seventeen minutes between the periods. There is a television break usually after six, ten and fourteen minutes into the game unless there is a goal or a power play. After the end of the stipulated sixty-minute, the winner is declared based on the team having the highest number of goals. If there is a draw between both the teams, then the game goes into overtime. The over time is usually given for five minutes. During this time, the team, which scores a goal, first wins.

In the start of the 2005–06, if the game ended in a tie then it must enter a shootout. Three players chosen from every team try their luck at the penalty shot. The team that scores the highest during the shootout time wins. If the team still draws in the shootout stage, the shootout status continues until one team emerges the winner. Whichever team wins at the end is given a goal in the game score and two points in the standings.

If we take into consideration the four major leagues in the United States, then the NHL is the only league to have teams that are competent enough to play in the capital cities Ottawa as well as Washington, D.C. the NHL is also proud of the fact that it has more teams of Canadian origin than the NBA and MLB. Both of them have one each whereas, the NHL has six.

Ticket brokers can help you get NHL tickets without you having to run from pillar to post looking for NHL tickets. The friendly and competent personnel at NHL are always there to guide you on your ticket requirements. You can call them up and place your requirements.
